The Borghese Gallery is a well known art gallery located in Rome, Italy. This particular gallery contains spectacular, historical paintings and sculptures that were collected by Cardinal Scipione Borghese. Even to this day, the Borghese Gallery houses the largest private collection of art in the world.
Cardinal Borghese was a renowned patron of great artists and collected classical and contemorary workds. His interest in Raphael and Caravaggio is apparent in his persuance of their paintings. The collection has traveled through out the world until o owner until it was purchased by the Italian government in 1902.
