This year through out Florence, many well-known museums will be home to a series of exhibitions called “Florence 2013: A Year in Art.” This program includes eight temporary exhibits that will increase the rich cultural offerings of this beautiful city, beginning in the spring of 2013 and running throught he end of the year.
The first exhibit will be held at the Uffizi Gallery, entitled, Norma e Capriccio: Spagnoli in Italia agli esordi della maniera moderna. (Norma e Capriccio: Spanish art in Italy at the beginning of modern time.”) This exhibit is dedicated to the Spanish painters and sculptors who came to Italy to experience a new artistic environment.
The exhibit is divided into four parts in eight different rooms of the Levante. The first part focuses on the artistic edge of Alanso Berruguete, and the second part is dedicated to Pedro Machuca and Pedro Fernandez, whose paths developed between Milan, Rome and Campania. The third and fourth parts are devoted to the sculptors, Bartelome Ordonez and Diego de Siloam, who returned home to Spain with the rich influence of Italian art.
These different focuses are all comparisons between art in Spain and Italy, who lived happily and prosperously together in the Renaissance. The exhibit compares two nations whose crisises have been quieted by combining the works of Spanish Italian artists and other important names such as Andrea del Sarto, Pontormo, Donatello, Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael.
This exhibit will run from March 5 to May 26, 2013. It will increase the entrance fees to the Uffizi Gallery, but it is surely not an event to miss out on.
