THE EXHIBITION
An extraordinary exhibition of "The Cinquecento in Florence" dedicated to the greatest exponents of the 16th century Florentine, including Michelangelo, Pontormo, Giambologna, will be hosted by Palazzo Strozzi from the 21st of September 2017 to the 21st of January 2018.
More than seventy works, including paintings and sculptures, will be exhibited by incredible artists as Michelangelo Buonarroti, known thanks to "Il Giudice Universale" in Rome and his sculptures including the famous white marble "David" in Florence; Pontormo, Giorgio Vasari, Giambologna, Santi di Tito, Bartolomeo Ammannati recognized by the history of art as important artists of this century.
The organization of the exhibition follows a chronological and at the same time thematic order, between Mannerism and the Controversial Period.
Among the most celebrated works we can admire Cristo Deposto, coming directly from the Musée des Beaux-Arts et d'Archéologie in Besançon in France, Deposizione of Pontormo from the Church of Santa Felicita in Florence, la Deposizione from the Cross of Rosso Fiorentino from Civic Museum of Volterra, la Resurrezione of Santi di Tito from the Basilica of Santa Croce in Florence, il Dio Fluviale of Michelangelo by the Academy of Arts and Design.
