THE EXHIBITION

From 26 September 2025 to 25 January 2026 Florence celebrates the genius of Beato Angelico with a large exhibition set up between Palazzo Strozzi and the San Marco Museum. The initiative, the result of the collaboration between the Palazzo Strozzi Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and local institutions, represents one of the most anticipated cultural events of 2025.

The exhibition, curated by Carl Brandon Strehlke with Angelo Tartuferi and Stefano Casciu, traces the artist's entire career, highlighting his ability to combine the late Gothic tradition with the new achievements of the Renaissance. Guido di Piero, later Fra Giovanni da Fiesole, born in Vicchio di Mugello around 1395, is famous for the masterful use of light, the perspective construction and the profound spiritual intensity of his works.

The itinerary, which puts Angelico in dialogue with masters such as Masaccio, Filippo Lippi and Michelozzo, collects over 140 masterpieces: paintings, drawings, sculptures and miniatures from world-famous museums such as the Louvre, Metropolitan, Gemäldegalerie, Vatican Museums and Rijksmuseum.

Thanks to extensive research and restoration work, the public will also be able to admire altarpieces reassembled after centuries of dispersion. An unrepeatable opportunity to rediscover the refined and profoundly human language of one of the fathers of the Renaissance.
